David's Story:
David was born in Jackson, MS to loving parents David Sr. and Patricia Ann. His parents believe in living a life always conscious of a moral compass guided by Christian values and they made sure to instill these values in him. David has two wonderful siblings, Ben and Laquinta, who are both uniquely talented. David has a strong close-knit family that keeps him humble by reminding him to always stay true to his southern roots. After his family moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin, David attended Mary. D. Bradford High School.
David has always been involved with music, playing alto sax and singing in both his school and church choirs. Despite this, his arrival at Bradford HS is what introduced him to the world of musical theatre. Bradford was not a performing arts school; however, it maintained a robust theatre department producing as many as eight theatrical productions a year. He credits high school director Holly Standfield for seeing his potential and casting him in his first musical, Les Misérables at the age of 15. After this production, David continued to participate in multiple theatrical productions including performing in Sweeney Todd at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, NE.
David attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, graduating with a bachelor’s fine arts degree in Musical Theatre. During his years in Stevens Point he participated in many campus organizations; however, none were as impactful on his life than The Noel Compass Scholarship Program. It’s a full-ride scholarship program created by John and Patty Noel to give high school minority students a chance to gain a valuable education along with extensive work experience. The program also includes an extensive mentoring program that David credits to connecting him with incredible leaders in the business community. These leaders were able to impart and equip David with the tools and critical knowledge needed to survive such a competitive career.
David moved to NYC in 2009 and it continues to be his home base. He continues to work for numerous theatres in New York, regionally, as well as performing in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Broadway's-hit After Midnight aboard the Norwegian Escape. When he’s fortunate enough to be home David can be found at First Church Brooklyn singing with the beloved gospel choir.
